Falls Park Trails

Falls Park Trail Map

With 3 ½ miles of walking, running, and bicycling pathways, the trail system in Falls Park might not be as long as many places, but there is no lack of transportation history or natural beauty found along these routes.

In 1851, the "Big 4 Railway" came to Pendleton. A stretch of the Indianapolis and Bellefontaine was combined with the Bellefontaine and Indiana line to form what was known as the "Bee Line." One of our trails incorporates a segment of this historic rail line.

TrailsAs you travel north on that trail you will        overlook woods and water with Prairie Creek meandering below. Home to many birds and wildlife, this woody area is filled with red squirrels, whitetail deer, pileated                     woodpeckers, and sightings of mink.

About a quarter mile into your trek, you have the option of crossing Prairie Creek and walking the "lowlands" of the woods. Continue straight and with a half mile behind you, restrooms are available at the North Entrance through spring and into fall. There you will find a small fishing pond and shelter house as you make this loop near the Red Barn.

Turning to the south, and then left crossing the wooden bridge, you will discover the “1910 Tunnel” under the CSX railroad. Go straight and be cautioned of wet trails. Turn to the left through the tunnel, which is dry in June to November. This will lead you out to the Sports Complex which is owned by Falls Park. Go south and follow the trail parallel to the railroad and bordered by forested wetland.

All in all, the trails connect to many parts of the park: The Red Barn at the North Entrance, the Community Building, Alvin Brown Memorial Pool, two ponds and two creeks, the playgrounds and the park office. Easy to moderate, the trails won't disappoint.

Come enjoy the trails in Falls Park and we know you will be happy to find adventure in a big way.
