Falls Park Outdoor Fitness Center

Falls Park Outdoor Fitness Center

The Outdoor Fitness Center project is complete! Thanks to the hard work of Eagle Scout Logan Marshall, matching funds from the Falls Park Board, and community donations, the exercise stations are now available for all to use and enjoy. Thank you to everyone who contributed to creating another       fantastic community asset for Pendleton and South Madison County residents and visitors!

Life Scout Troop 232

My name is Logan Marshall and I am a Life Scout of Troop 232 in Pendleton, Indiana. I am 16 years old and a Junior at Pendleton Heights High School. I have been in scouting since I was in third grade. I have grown and learned so much through my many years of scouting which has prepared me for this point in my scouting career; to earn my Eagle Scout. When the time came to start my Eagle Scout Service Project, I wanted to find something that will challenge me and something that I am                  passionate about.

I would like to install an Outdoor Fitness Center at Falls Park with at least 6 different exercises. My goal is to raise enough money for four fitness clusters but it would be great to add extra pull-up bars to the upper trails in Falls Park. Where regardless of age, mobility, or fitness level, anyone will be able to get quality exercise. People run in the park, which is great for lower body strength, but their upper body doesn't get any exercise. With the fitness  center, people will be able to get a well balanced workout for their entire body.

In Pendleton, there is a field that is used for farming that the Parks Department has recently                  acquired. The new Falls Park Maintenance building will be connected by a pathway at the North-East corner of the field, along the tree line. The fitness center will be located in this corner. The clusters will be connected to the Falls Parks trail system via a crosswalk on Huntsville Pike. This is a great place for people to park their car, stretch, go for a walk, jog, or run, and finish with some upper body strengthening exercises.

Here is how you can help. The exercise equipment we plan to purchase is made from high quality steel. The equipment will last a very long time because of its heavily powder coated finish and durable poles. We would like to purchase extra equipment for the upper hiking trails like pull up bars. For the fitness clusters, extra trail equipment, and materials for installation, it will cost about $18,000. This is a very large amount but I love a good challenge. I believe this goal is obtainable and that the benefits of the project are worth every penny.

Thank you for considering donating towards my Eagle Scout Service Project,

Logan Marshall
