PENDLETON — Tractor Supply announced an $11 million expansion to the distribution facility at the Industrial Park this week.

The Pendleton City Council approved a 10-year diminishing tax abatement beginning at 100 percent and decreasing by 10 percent each year for the facility which will add at least 50 jobs to the distribution center, said Councilman Chad Wolfe.

“It’s good knowing you are dealing with a high-quality company, a good community partner and you are dealing with somebody that has focus on employee retention and making good jobs in the community,” Wolfe said.

The expansion will take place over the next three years. A representative from the company declined to comment on the expansion.

Tractor Supply Company was founded in 1938 as a mail order tractor parts business and currently owns and operates more than 1,700 stores in 49 states, supplying basic maintenance products to home, land, pet and animal owners, according to the company’s website.
