Town Manager

The Town Manager's duties include those of Planning Director. Doug is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners. The Town Manager is also general manager of the electric and water utilities and supervisor of the street department and municipal cemetery.  Doug oversees the staff functions of the Town Council, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Redevelopment Commission, Utility Rate Advisory Board, Fire/Police Building Corporations and the tree committee.

 

Doug is the Town's Commissioner on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Municipal Power Agency. Duties at IMPA include serving on the budget committee, the nominating committee and as chairperson of the audit committee. He represents the Town as a member of the Fall Creek Regional Waste District Board of Directors.

 

In the public safety arena, Doug is a paramedic and is Director of Advanced Life Support Operations for the Pendleton Emergency Ambulance Service. He is a member of the Board of Directors and is a past Ambulance Chief and training officer. He is a retired second class firefighter with the Pendleton Fire Department. Doug was recently honored by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security as 2006 “Paramedic of the Year”.

 

Doug grew up in the South Madison County area, graduated from Pendleton Heights High School and received a BS in Business Administration from Indiana University with a major in accounting and a minor in chemistry. He left the automotive industry and began his local government career in March of 1986 as Falls Park Superintendent and has been Town Manager since 1996. Doug recently completed a paramedic-to-RN transition program and received an Associate in Science in Nursing degree. He is a part-time RN in the Emergency Department of Community Hospital in Anderson.

 

The McGee family consisting of Doug, his wife Pat, two sons, three dogs, two cats and an African gray parrot live in a historic home on South Broadway, the Town's only remaining original brick street.
