Board of Stormwater Management

The purpose of the Board of Stormwater Management (BSM) is to provide uniform and centralized management of the stormwater collection and conveyance systems and activities in the town.

The BSM consists of three members that are appointed by the town council president and meet the first Wednesday of each month at 6 pm at Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Board of Zoning Appeals

The Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) hears and decides requests for variances from the standards identified in the Unified Development Ordinance. The BZA also hears and makes final decisions on conditional use requests. In addition, the BZA makes the final decision concerning appeals regarding  administrative decisions.

The BZA consists of five members appointed by the Town Council and Plan Commission. The Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 7 pm at Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Historic Preservation Commission

The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) establishes historic districts and reviews certificates of appropriateness for development and alterations within the downtown business district.

The HPC consists of six members appointed by the Town Council President and Historic Fall Creek, Pendleton Settlement. The Commission meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 pm in Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Parks and Recreation Board

The Parks and Recreation Board exercises the general supervision and makes the rules of the parks department. The Board prepares and submits an annual budget to the Town Council, makes recommendations and an annual report to the Town Council concerning the operation of the Board and status of park and recreation programs in the district.

The Parks and Recreation Board consists of seven members appointed by the Town Council, the Library Board, the School Board, and the Circuit Court Judge. Board meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 6 pm in the Falls Park Office located at 460 Falls Park Drive.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the park calendar.

Plan Commission

The Plan Commission reviews subdivisions of land, site development plans, and planned unit developments (PUDs), in addition to initiating amendments to the zoning code and map.

The Plan Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Town Council and meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7 pm in Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Redevelopment Commission

The Redevelopment Commission (RDC) oversees the town’s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) districts and Falls Pointe Business Park.

The RDC consists of six members appointed by the Town Council and the South Madison Community School Corporation Board.  Commission meetings are held the fourth Thursday of each month at 6 pm in Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Redevelopment Authority

The Redevelopment Authority (RDA) was created as an instrument of the Town of Pendleton to finance local public improvements for lease to the Pendleton Redevelopment Commission.  The RDA consists of three members appointed by the Town Council.  RDA meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7 pm in Pendleton Town Hall.  Special meetings and cancellations are posted on the town calendar.

Utility Rate Advisory Board

The Utility Rate Advisory Board (URAB) investigates, gathers information, deliberates, and advises the Town Council on any future proposed general utility rate increases.

Urban Forestry Committee

The Urban Forestry Committee (UFC) is responsible for administering a written plan for the care of trees and shrubs along streets and in other public areas.

The Waterworks Board (WB) has the ability to build, finance, set rates, and take other actions in respect to the Town’s water utility.

The 1820 Society formed in 2016 with the charge of planning the Town’s bicentennial celebration and legacy project.
